Enrique Vargas del Villar repeatedly bragged that Trump had invited him to his inauguration, but it seems it was all false.
This Monday, the name of Senator Enrique Vargas del Villar, a member of the National Action Party (PAN), went viral on social media after he made a fool of himself by being left out of President Donald Trump’s inauguration, despite claiming that he had been invited.
It all started on January 18, when the PAN legislator announced through his personal accounts that he had received an invitation from Donald Trump’s team, requesting his attendance at the American’s swearing-in ceremony.
His message read:
“I am in front of the White House, ready for Donald Trump’s Inauguration.”
Enrique Vargas is left out of Trump’s inauguration.
In a video, he stated:
“Hello again, we couldn’t get into the event because it started raining heavily… We were in line to enter, but we couldn’t make it because it’s snowing… I’m heading back to the hotel to change because I have a lunch with a Texas congressman, Tony González… I’ll be sharing more about this trip to Washington… The weather is really harsh; I usually don’t get too cold, but this time I’m freezing.”
“He was never invited, they don’t know him, and Americans don’t even acknowledge him.”
As expected, hundreds of Mexican citizens reacted to the video in which Enrique Vargas del Villar tried to explain why he didn’t attend Donald Trump’s inauguration. Most responses were mocking the PAN senator, as many believed he was never actually invited and had only traveled to the U.S. for show.
Others took the opportunity to criticize his appearance, urging him—just like Alejandro Moreno Cárdenas from the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI)—to stop using Botox, warning that it would only further ruin his face.
Finally, some advised him to at least make the most of his trip and vacation before having to report back to the public, as his travel expenses were ultimately covered by taxpayer money.
